The institute has a number of exchange agreements with foreign
universities, including bilateral arrangements, agreements through
the EU SOCRATES programme, and the Scandinavian NORDPLUS exchange
programme.
For exchange students, the University offers the three-week
“Denmark Today” course, a linguistic and cultural introduction to
studying in Denmark. More information here.
As a visiting student, you will improve your language prerequisites
by taking Danish classes at a local language school, so that you
are able to take classes in Danish.
You may be able to find courses relevant to Information and Media
Studies at other departments under the Faculty of Arts, which,
prior to each semester, provides information on all courses offered in foreign languages.
Normally, as a visiting student, you may enrol in these courses by
inquiring directly of the department at which they are
offered.
Information Studies, including Multimedia, regularly offers courses
in English. Additionally, students may have courses approved by
Media Studies, Computer Science, and other departments with
relevant offerings. For relevant course offerings contact the
Director of Studies, Associate Professor Steffen Brandorff, sbrand@imv.au.dk.
Courses in Information Studies, IT and Organisation, and Multimedia
and Computer Science are posted around March 15th and November
15th.
Each semester, European and Scandinavian Cultural Studies also
offers six to ten courses in English that may also be taken by
students in Media Studies.
You may also take courses at the Department of Political Science, the Aarhus School of
Business and the Danish School of Journalism. Further
information on these options may be obtained from the international
coordinator at Media Studies, Associate Professor Per Jauert, pjauert@imv.au.dk
If you understand Danish and have studied Information or Media
Studies for at least two years (or have similar prerequisites or
qualifications), you may choose amongst the courses offered in the
following programmes:
If you understand Danish, you may also be eligible for
admission to supplementary programmes in Information Studies,
Media Studies, IT and Organisation, or Multimedia, each of which
is of one year’s duration (full-time studies, 60 ECTS
credits). Deadline for applications: June 6th.
If you seek admission through one of the exchange programmes or
bilateral arrangements (USA, Canada), the coordinator, Per Jauert,
must receive your application no later than two months before your
arrival, and preferably earlier. The application should be sent by
standard mail. Prior to this your home department coordinator
should inform Per Jauert, pjauert@imv.au.dk, that you
have been chosen as a visiting student.
You can download the application form from the homepage of the International
Office, which also provides extensive practical information
with regard to studying at the University of Aarhus: housing, costs
of living, resident permits and so on. The International Office is
responsible for reserving accommodations for visiting
students, and advising them on practical matters in connection with
studying in Aarhus.
Upon arrival in Aarhus, you will be met by a mentor – one of the
institutes’s students – who will accompany you to your residence
and show you around the Department and University. The mentor will
help you with advice and assistance the first couple of weeks of
your stay in Aarhus.
